FileGPS Client Setups

To Setup Logstash we need some prerequisites check them and proceed further

Prerequisites setup:

**Note: check for Java home setting (if not available, add it) and proceed further.
–> echo $JAVA_HOME –> if this returns java home dir, then ignore below steps and proceed to “ELK setup start” step
–> yum install java-1.8.0-openjdk-devel
–> vi /etc/profile — enter below lines
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/jdk64/jdk1.8.0_112
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH

Logstash setup:

procedure to follow:

1.Make a directory for logstash : mkdir logstash

2.Get into the dir : cd logstash

3.get the tar file of logstash for installation
wget https://artifacts.elastic.co/downloads/logstash/logstash-6.4.2.tar.gz

4.untar the file : tar -xvf logstash-6.4.2.tar.gz

5.Get into the logstash file : cd logstash-6.4.2

6: Create sample stdinout.conf file with below content:
input{
stdin{}
}
output{
stdout{}
}

7.To run the logstash file to establish a pipe line to get data
Run logstash –> ./bin/logstash -f stdinout.conf
